Privacy Policy — Cloudbase Weather

Information We Collect

Cloudbase does not require an account, name, phone number, mailing address, or other directly identifying profile information to show weather.

Location data when you grant location access. Cloudbase uses your current location to request weather for your area. We do not ask you to create an account to use this feature.
On-device app data. Cloudbase stores settings and cached forecast data locally on your device, including weather units, chart preferences, offline forecast content, and the last forecast location used for offline recovery and widgets.
Usage analytics. We use Plausible Analytics to measure aggregate usage of the Cloudbase web experience used inside the app. According to Plausible's published data policy, it does not use cookies or persistent identifiers and processes limited request metadata such as page URL, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, and approximate location derived from IP address.
Support communications. If you email us, we receive the information you include in your message, such as your email address, name you choose to provide, and the contents of your request.
Technical request data. Our hosting and data providers may process technical information such as IP address, timestamps, request URLs, browser or device metadata, and query data needed to serve weather results and protect their services.

How We Use Information

To provide the weather, radar, air quality, and aviation information you request.
To remember settings and make offline forecast recovery and widgets work on your device.
To understand high-level usage trends and improve the reliability and usability of Cloudbase.
To respond to support emails, fix issues, and send important service or legal notices when necessary.
To maintain security, detect abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Location Data

If you allow location access, Cloudbase uses that location to fetch weather for your current area. We do not use location to build an account profile, sell advertising audiences, or send marketing promotions.

Forecast and location details may still be cached locally on your device so the app can recover your last forecast, support widgets, and show weather when connectivity is limited.

Third-Party Services and Providers

Cloudbase relies on third-party services for hosting, analytics, weather data, aviation data, and support email. Those providers may process data under their own privacy terms.

Cloudflare hosts and serves Cloudbase. Cloudflare may process IP address, request routing data, system configuration information, and traffic logs as part of delivering and securing the service.
Plausible Analytics is used for aggregate usage analytics. Plausible states that it does not use cookies or persistent identifiers and does not store raw IP addresses.
Open-Meteo provides weather data used by Cloudbase. Open-Meteo states that technical logs for the free API may include IP addresses and request details for troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
NOAA / NWS Aviation Weather Center provides aviation weather information. NOAA and related weather services publish their own privacy notices for website and service usage.
Google Workspace / Gmail receives support email sent to our Cloudbase support address and processes those messages according to Google's privacy terms.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We share data with service providers only as needed to host Cloudbase, deliver weather and aviation data, measure aggregate usage, and receive support email.
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, security, and integrity of Cloudbase, our users, or others.
If you use external links inside Cloudbase, the sites you open are governed by their own privacy policies.

Data Retention

Local settings and cached weather data remain on your device until they are replaced, cleared, or the app is removed.
Support emails are retained for as long as needed to address your request and for a reasonable period afterward for support, security, and record-keeping.
Third-party providers may retain technical logs according to their own policies. For example, Open-Meteo's published terms say free API server logs may be retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting and misuse prevention.

Your Choices

You can deny or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings.
You can stop using Cloudbase and delete its local data by removing the app from your device.
If you contacted us directly and want related support data deleted, email us and we will review your request.
Analytics and infrastructure providers may offer their own privacy controls under their policies.

Children's Privacy

Cloudbase is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support email or another direct communication, contact us and we will investigate and delete it when appropriate.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information we control. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date shown below. Your continued use of Cloudbase after an update means the revised policy will apply going forward.
